Delhiites Lifestyle Magazine named Amit Garg of Shiva Group among eight icons of the city to mark its eighth anniversary. He was featured in the auto category, alongside leaders from food, music, jewellery, fashion, comedy, cinema and real estate.
From the family business to Noida.
Amit Garg told the magazine he grew up around the business and joined it after completing engineering and a master’s in business management. Two years later, in 1998, his father handed him a new dealership in Noida to build from scratch. He described that as the turning point of his career.
On people, the pandemic and growth.
He said his ongoing challenge is finding focused, hard-working leaders. The pandemic, he said, pushed the Group to review its manpower and costs, and left it leaner and more efficient.
Looking ahead, he pointed to India’s low vehicle ownership compared with the US and Europe as the reason he expects strong growth in the sector. He summed up the Group’s approach in one line: “Our mission is business growth through relationship.”
